Αγαπημένη οικογενειακή μας συνήθεια, αν και όχι παραδοσιακή ελληνική, είναι πλέον τα σπιτάκια από gingerbread. Όλα ξεκίνησαν πριν από αρκετά χρόνια όταν είχα την ιδέα να οργανώσω ένα μικρό πάρτυ για τις φίλες της Ηλιάνας, όπου κάθε μία θα στόλιζε το δικό της σπιτάκι. Τα κορίτσια είναι πλέον ενήλικα και ακόμα μου ζητούν καραμελλόσπιτα!!! Η διαφορά που υπάρχει ειναι πως τώρα, όλα τα σπιτάκια τα φτιάχνω μόνη μου και έτσι δεν διαφωνώ με κανέναν για τις αισθητικές μου επιλογές.....
Nowadays ,gingerbread houses has won me spot as the most treasured family tradition of ours, while not traditionally Greek by any means. It all started several years ago when I took the initiative to organize a small party for my daughter's , Iliana, friends.The idea was that I would prepare the houses and every each of them would get to individually decorate hers. The girls, now adults, still ask for gingerbread houses !!!! The only difference lies to the fact that now I get to decorate them myself escaping the previously inevitable fights about my aesthetic choices.... not to mention the several hours that it took to clean the entire house from candies, coloured sugars and jellies of various types!!
Essential to the houses are the various figures out of the same dough.....
